We interviewed Paul Garland, Senior Designer at Andrew Henry Interiors. He is the man behind the breathtaking interiors of our show homes at The Square.
Here's what he had to say...
There’s a great mix of homes on offer at The Square at Brooklands and we’re proud to have been tasked with transforming these brilliant blank canvases into inspiring show homes which whet customer appetites.
Our approach was to bring a real mix of inspirations; a mash-up of luxury elements, with modern twists and colours to suit every type of homeowners. Most important though was our research into the local area and using Milton Keynes-based talent to create special pieces for our home.
First, we adopted the area’s history by adorning the stair walls with old photographs of Milton Keynes. Local company Francis Frith came up with some great images which are good talking points, and a cute nod to the heritage of the area, showing renowned Milton Keynes structures in black and white still photography.
Beyond the heritage, it was important that these homes were fundamentally accessible, meaning the furnishings are sourced from high-street stores, with realistic pieces that buyers were each able to visualise.
These were interspersed with some beautifully bespoke and handmade in the UK pieces – including sofas and headboards - which offer an individual wow factor.
In terms of colour schemes, in the town house show home, we opted for blue and ochre as accents, set against a grey base; the colours are on trend yet subtle enough to be enjoyed by any age bracket.
On the second floor, within the second bedroom, we implemented a New York theme. Using a digital wall panel, the room features the breathtaking New York skyline from Villa Nova’s storybook collection. As will all rooms within the house, full sized furniture is used and this room impressively housed a king size bed.
I’d be hard pushed to tell you my favourite room in the house – but I do like the ‘teenagers’ bedroom and the and snug; my inspiration came from what I think a fashion student would want.
Our fictitious resident’s room featured a fantastic hand painted mural which spans an entire wall and was created by one of our talented artists, Rebecca. The mural features amazing detailing of a woman holding an open fan surrounded by beautiful blossom – it is very impressive. Additionally, the snug gives our imaginary resident an extension to her bedroom and can be used for studying and chilling with friends.
We pride ourselves on attention to detail and ensure customers walk into a home not a house. I hope each space inspires would-be residents and they can start to visualise their own version of this home too…
